A reluctant welcome committée

It’s not every day that foreigners peek their into the courtyards of Mushroom village, and these children couldn’t quite hide their surprise. Not long after this photo was taken, the ambiance was quite another. The children started scrambling around, showing us their water buffalo and playing with whatever they found on the ground. They are poor, but they had food. Down from the roof edges, every courtyard were drying corn cobs, chili and garlic. Luckily the area is fertile. In Yunnan province they grow rice of course, maize, sugar canes, many types of fruit,  tea, coffee and tobacco.
